1959  MOPARS

De Soto Adventurer

Dodge Custom Royal Lancer D 500

Two of my most favorite automobiles as an automobile collector! 1959 had truly been the last year of the outrageous automotive body designs and the now legendary "Fins of the '50's"  I especially enjoy the 1959 cars since every manufacturer tried to out-do-the-other with size of the fins or optional accessories.  The 1959 model year went to the extreme in all regards.  Higher Fins; record players; extensive oversized chrome bumpers, gadgets and trinkets.

Both cars are  rare because of the original low production and/or for the number of vehicles remaining today. These two cars are both California original automobiles with the coveted Black & Gold plates.

This 1959  De Soto Adventurer  had been purchased new in San Francisco and I am the 3rd owner. The Adventurer has undergone a quality re-paint (Adventurer models were built in White or Black only) and sports a new interior with N.O.S. fabric and new carpet with the true Gold Thread. The engine had been rebuilt back in the mid 1980's and only sports a few hundred miles on the odometer since then. Not a show car but  a nicely maintained/restored as needed.  The Adventurer has received many awards during my ownership.  It is special because of the rarity! Only 590 cars were  built in 1959 and my counting shows about 17 in existence today with most un-restored or even drive-able.

The very special Adventurer Hubcaps are N.O.S.  and will only be placed on the car at a show or for a photo shoot. The hubcaps have a large dome that is finished in anodized gold. A car that is more rare than its Mopar sister the Chrysler 300.

The 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer D500. I purchased this Dodge from another collector just a few years after the restoration. The Dodge came to San Francisco and entered rehab for prior mistakes and errors.  After many months the car was virtually restored to new.

The 1959 Dodge cars sported many, many options, even for the top of the line models.  This car has the rare D500 Engine option as well as most other optional accessory items. Even the Hood ornament was extra. Spinner hubcaps, dual rear antenna, chrome end inserts, Mirror Matic (self dimming mirror), and so on.

The 1959 Dodge is high on the collectible list for most experienced collectors.

1979 Lincoln MK V

1979 Lincoln MK V

The last of the Luxury Lincoln Flagships of the 1970's!   Gasoline lines caused Americans to trim back in the size of their personal drivers and the Auto Industry had been forced to downsize their production cars.  The large, most often ostentatious and expensive cars of the decade were rapidly coming to an end.

Lincoln had several years of attractive sales with its Luxury Line the Mark V and the spin off Designer Series. From Gucci to any name that might sell.  The Mark V models sported every luxury convenience item of the decade. Advertising even used Tom  Selleck  in brochures to attract buyers.

Sales were still brisk in '79 since the affluent did not catch on for a few extra years.

This Mark V had been purchased new in Northern California and had been used, only on occasion, for a family vacation. The car had never seen Rain, no less Snow.

I purchased the Mark V from the original owner with less than 30K on the odometer..

This, last of the Land Yachts, is finished in a cream color with matching leather interior and padded vinyl 1/4 roof.   Highway driving in a Mark V is a true luxury. Especially as a passenger with the full reclining seat.

Today, the Mark V, in Pristine Condition or extremely low mileage, is reaching new $ highs for a collector car of the '70's era.

1956 Lincoln Premiere Restoration Project

1956 Lincoln Premiere Convertible

" Restoration Project"

A great candidate for a full restoration project.  This Premiere convertible was originally built in Los Angeles and spent most of its life in Eastern Washington State.  The vehicle is an original White car with Wisteria interior. I purchased the Lincoln about 1990 in the Los Angeles area and it is stored with my other cars in the California central valley. The 1956 Lincoln has been increasing in value each and every year and should maintain this growth due to the low survival rate.

1958 Plymouth Suburban

The 1957 and 1958 Plymouth Sport Fury models have become some of the most desired vehicles of that decade.  The Fury had been Plymouths entry to compete with the Chrysler 300, Dodge D500 and DeSoto Adventurer, however, in the LOW PRICE FIELD. Plymouth first entered the competition with the 1956 Fury.

Although 7,438 examples had been produced in 1957, sadly, only a few remain today.  The Fury had been produced in only one color - " Sand Dune White!"  The Fury is a very saught-after collector car in todays market, with amounts nearly reaching the 6 figures for a perfectly restored or No. 1 Original.

This vehicle is a "FULL" RESTORATION PROJECT", but a true California Black Plate Car.  Purchased for restoration over 17 years ago, the car has remained in dry storage waiting a turn.  The Surburban is truly a low milege, rust free California car that had been purchased as a "Donar car" for the Fury, since they had ths same engine and many under hood parts.  A restoration project worth the expense -- but not for the faint of heart due to the expense of such an undertaking.
